Using a delicate, cool water wash cycle with dye and fragrance-free detergent will prevent matting or pilling.
Handwashing is always the best and safest method for washing faux fur. Add 2 capfuls or a squirt of Wool & Cashmere Shampoo to a washbasin or sink filled with cool water. Submerge the item and gently agitate the water with your hands to evenly distribute soap. Soak for up to 30 minutes.
Gentle / Cold Cycle Only — Run on the gentlest cycle possible, with cold water only! Once finished, press or squeeze out (do not wring) any excess water in the tub and hang to dry away from heat sources (including direct sunlight). Whatever you do, DO NOT PUT FAUX FUR IN THE DRYER!
Dry your blanket on low heat, or no heat if that setting is available on your dryer. The high heat of a dryer can melt the tips of the yarn when they’re tumbling in the dryer. If the tips of the yarn melt - even slightly - it hardens the end of each strand of yarn, decreasing the plush softness of your blanket.
Wash your fleece in cold water on the delicate or hand wash cycle and then tumble dry on LOW or simply air dry.
Machine wash in cold water using mild detergent and gentle cycle only. Avoid bleach, and tumble dry on delicate setting. If you haven’t ordered a photo blanket yet and you’re wondering which fabric you should choose, fleece blankets are lightweight yet will keep you warm on moderately cold days or nights.
